there’s this one scene, i think it’s in the epilogue or pretty close to the end of tlg, where it says smth like shane finally had a piece of chocolate cake without feeling guilty and it broke my heart 😭😭

I want Jacob to bring his A game next season because as much as i like Rachel, she didn’t do Shanes character justice. We only saw depth of Ilyas character. Shane came across as Ahole because we never saw his insecurities and weight of the cross he was bearing

Yep, I remember feeling exactly like Shane when I was struggling with my ED. I felt like I didn't have control over anything in my life, so controlling everything I ate and making sure it was "perfect" made me feel relieved, like I could finally do something right. It also didn't help that people in my life were congratulating me on being so "healthy" and "strict" that it made me feel like I truly was doing something right. That, and I wanted all the encouragements for being "healthy" that I could get because I was too embarrassed to ask for someone to actually support me. Anyway, I'm 2 years recovered, I don't feel guilt for eating food anymore, and Shane definitely has a place in my heart.

as someone who seeks control 24/7, and it has ended up with food, he is so relatable. my adhd causes me to be clumsy and depend on others with my issues, the fact I have no control over something that affects me so heavily makes me seek control over other things. Shane is so relatable, for many.
