@iconic.russia: Congratulations to all Muslims on the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan! 🕌🌙 There are about 20 million Muslims living in Russia. The republics considered Muslim-majority regions in our country are Ingushetia, Chechnya, Dagestan, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia, and Bashkortostan, where Islam and Christianity peacefully coexist. I would like to focus a bit more on Tatarstan, I'm originally from there — from the beautiful city of Kazan. 🙏🏻 Recently, I went to one of the most beautiful mosques in this city — Qolsharif. It is the main mosque of Tatarstan and one of its key landmarks. It was built in 2005 and named after the last imam, Seid Qolsharif, who was one of the leaders of the defense of Kazan in 1552. The mosque can accommodate 1500 people at a time. The square around it can hold 10 000 people. An interesting fact is that an ancient symbol of the revival and prosperity of the Bolgar Khanate — the tulip — is incorporated into the architecture: the windows on the dome are shaped like the flower, and it is also depicted in mosaics. 🌷 I was wondering how many Muslim followers we have?
