And DKA isn’t the ONLY reason for high anion gap metabolic acidosis!!! Had a rhabdo pt started on DKA protocol per EMD …. It wasn’t DKA causing the high gap; it was most certainly the myoglobin/CK >50,000…..

I’d love it if you did a series on lab values and what they mean! I really appreciate the way you explain it! As an oncology nurse we only focus on trending certain labs but there are others I’d like to understand and watch more closely.

Recently had a patient coming in with sodium 123 chloride 99 and co2 less than 5 so they were unable to calc his A gap. He was in DKA sugar 663
