Here’s why 👇 Extra depth isn’t dangerous because roots sit above it — extra width is risky because roots sit in it. When you add depth: • Water moves downward • The top layer dries first • Roots grow down into moisture when they need it But when you add too much width: • Wet soil surrounds the root ball • Oxygen drops • Soil stays wet longer • Rot risk goes way up As long as your soil drains well and the pot has a drainage hole, a deeper pot is usually fine.
