@claire.wineland was born with cystic fibrosis, a serious genetic disease that affects the lungs and other organs. From a very young age, she faced life threatening health challenges spending thousands of hours in hospitals and enduring more than 35 surgeries, including long periods on oxygen and life support. Pain and uncertainty were part of her daily life, long before most people even understand what illness means. Instead of letting her condition define her, Claire turned her experience into purpose. At just 13 years old, she founded @clairesplacefoundation to support children and families living with cystic fibrosis. Through emotional support and financial assistance during long hospital stays, she helped families survive moments when life felt overwhelming. She also became a speaker, author, and social media voice for millions using her YouTube channel and public talks to speak honestly about chronic illness: the beautiful moments, the painful ones, and everything in between. The impact of her foundation speaks for itself. In 2022, Claire’s Place Foundation raised $589,040 in total income. It distributed support through multiple programs including COVID-19 relief, extended hospital stay grants, work-proudly programs, and other direct assistance reaching families who needed help. Even while fighting for her own life, Claire was building something that would continue helping others long after her. At 21 years old,She underwent for lung transplant , but due to complications afterward, she passed away peacefully on September 2, 2018. Her life was short, but it was never small. “You’re not dying.
