@historyhit: Gerald of Wales documented the conquest of Ireland in Expugnatio Hibernica, explaining why the English hated the Irish. A while after the Anglo-Norman invasion of 1169, Robert Bruce would send his brother Edward to lead an invasion, to drive them out and take Ireland for the Scots in 1316. Let’s be absolutely clear. The invasion of Ireland was masterminded by a king who was born in France, lived in France, spoke French, married a French woman, died in France and was buried in France. Henry II. The ongoing pinning of historical invasion of Ireland (on the orders of the pope btw and with a literal invitation) on modern day England is madness. 99% of the English in the 1100s had no responsibility whatsoever.

Fun fact “Gerald of Wales” was a part of the Norman settler community in Wales (the ones who lived in the big castles). So let’s call him Gerald the Norman Propagandist to be more accurate 👍

So essentially the Irish rather steak to gruel and bread, they enjoy life instead of living in misery, and they love freedom.
