Tbh that should be illegal! Like you’re charging me more for a unit that hasn’t been deep cleaned on their dime, repainted, or renovated yet new tenants get all that for cheaper.

Next time, if you still want to stay, remind them that you are LONGTERM quality tenants. Look up the local percentage of increase for your area and come back to them with that percentage if they try to pull that again. In Chicago after 4 years they actually have to give us 120 days notice of increase/non renewal. Best law ever honestly because long term tenancy can be so hard to find.
