@timeasasolid: This is an idea I’ve played with a couple of times so I thought it was time to make a full video and even a print. I’m interested in whether this is a photograph or not. And also I just like the experience of creating an image from… nothing. I’m using Sony a7riii and 24-105mm lens, although the lens is probably completely irrelevant. I guess I could have even done this without a lens and the body cap on the camera. So did I take a photograph while the lens cap was on? Let me know what you think. #photography #creativephotography #photographyexperiment #lightroom #sonya7riii
Not a photograph. You didn’t capture any photons, you only captured and processed analog noise.

No. Photo graphy is "light writing" - you didn’t capture any light, so the answer is definitely no. Did you make art? Maybe. Is it photography? No.

the only thing you did capture is the electric noise of your sensor and maybe some radiation causing noise in your sensor... in astro photography that's called a black frame which you use to filter the electric noise out of your image data by inverting it... simply said...

32000 is the max iso of your sensor. You've set the sensitivity beyond that, which will make the camera lift up the shadows digitally.
