@carley2391: We receive the gift of salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ. We are all sinners - every single one of us. Yet if we die with even just one sin, we will be eternally separated from God in hell. Sin = death (Romans 6:23). Fortunately for us, Jesus (who is God in the flesh) left His throne in Heaven & came to rescue us. In the Old Testament, the Israeli's were told to sacrifice pure, blemish free animals to temporarily cleanse them of their sins. The animals death replaced theirs, and they were forgiven for the time being. They had to do this over and over again because it was only temporary. In walks Jesus - fully God, fully man. He lived a perfect, sin free life - something only God could do. He was pure, blemish free like in the Old Testament, except this time it is a permanent cleansing of our sins for those who truly believe. He chose to die the most brutal death for us so we could be with Him eternally. He loves us that much! We do not deserve it - we are the sinners, not Him. We deserved the brutal death. Yet, His death replaces ours - for all who truly believe. All we have to do is truly believe in our heart that Jesus died on the cross to atone for our sins, and that He rose on the third day. Believing in His blood washes our sins away, and we are saved. That is it. It is through faith in Jesus finish work on the cross. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 "Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you-unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures," "In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having BELIEVED, you were SEALED with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the GUARANTEE of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory."
