Easy test of competence: Ask them something you know the answer to, but pretend you know nothing. For me it’s cars, and bc they believe you don’t know much they will embellish and fabricate a story. 👍💯 Folks of character and integrity will NOT fake it.

Uhm, not true. There’s a reason some college classes are only able to be taken after doing prior ones. You NEED some understanding for some things to understand it

I know some extremely talented engineers that have built tangible amazing things, but their communication skills aren’t the greatest. I think there’s truth in what you’re claiming, but it’s not the main determinant.

At times complicated words help facilitate explaining a complicated concept with fewer less precise words. I'd consider the skill of simplification an entirely different skill that doesn't determine a persons understanding of a complicated subject. Also putting the burden of explanation on to somebody with the added stipulation of oversimplification can sometimes be a "gotcha" attempt.

absolutely incorrect LOL the easiest thing to do is high level explanations, just question them specifically on certain aspects and its easy to tell if they know how it works
