@jessnuremberg: Replying to @C I had a baby on my own. Yes, I chose to bring her into this world without two parents. In my 40’s, single, and with no one “on the way,” I had a decision to make, wait and maybe never become a mom, or build my family myself. I chose motherhood. And she is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me. If you’re wondering whether this could be your path too, it can. I love seeing women choose solo motherhood intentionally. That kind of autonomy is powerful. My experience so far looks a bit different. I had my son at 45. Part failed birth control, part miracle. He is now 7. Curious, hilarious, and my favourite human. What I did not fully anticipate was how hard solo motherhood can be without structural support. High childcare costs. Single income pressure (post-grad level ed/long career in a volatile industry). Ageism in the job market. No nearby family. Post-covid career disruption. I am proud of the life we are building. We hold two citizenships and are on track for a third, which gives us options. I am also honest about the systemic challenges that rarely get discussed. For anyone considering this path, I would say plan for more support and more financial runway than you think you need. I am currently building fully remote income so we can design an environment that aligns with our values. Always open to smart advice.

Makes me sad that you need to explain this to anyone. As someone on this journey I know this is not a split second decision. Lots of thought and loves goes into making this choice.

LETS READ HER STATMENT WELL. SHE LOST BOTH PARENTS AT A YOUNG AGE. SO WHY ASK THIS QUESTIONS. BECAUSE IT DOES MATTER IF YOU HAVE 1 PARENT OR 2 PARENTS YOU CAN STILL BE ALONE IF THEY DIE. SO YES THIS LADY MAKE THE RIGHT DECISION TO BECOME A SMBC. ONE THING PEOPLE DON'T UNDERSTAND OR KNOW IS THAT SMBC DON'T JUST GET PREGNANT THEY PLAN AND PARPARE FOR THIS. AND MOST OF THEM MAKE SURE THEIR CHILD WILL BE ALL SET IF THEY SHOULD DIE GOD FORBID. NOT SAYING THAT 2 PARENTS DON'T PLAN. BUT SMBC SPEND A LOT OF MONEY WITHOUT HAVE FUN LIKE 2 PARENTS WOULD IN THEIR BEDROOM. SO YES MOST SMBC ARE FINICALLY STABLE AND THE CHILD WILL BE OK.

I did the same, although already at 32 years old, dating hasn’t worked out and I didn’t wanna risk my biggest dream by just waiting. 💜🙏🏼 well done us 🥰
