Surely there's a difference between holding on for dear life and pulling yourself up with them, and touching them for balance 🙃

First few times I held on for dear life 😅 but I’ve been working my way up to not holding at all, sometimes at the end of a session I get tired and it’s harder to keep the balance so I hold on with one hand. Works for me✌️

Hmmm disagree. Im a gym girl of 6.5 years and a regular stair master user. I only use speed 5 and I still hold onto the rails lightly for balance. Key word there being I hold lightly, not gripping tight for pulling myself up. Speed 5 is a pretty slow pace in the grand scheme of things, but if I didn’t hold on I’d genuinely wobble about the place like that girl in the photo. I burn a lot of calories while doing it. I think your take is a little meh. It’s not always “are you holding on for balance or is it ego driven.”

My stairmaster says on it clearly to always hold onto the bars but not to rely on them. I think I’ll listen to it

I think holding on purely for balance and putting your whole weight on it is 2 different things. I’ve seen people leaning on it and just flopping their legs around. 😂But I also have to hold onto something or I’d plummet to my death for sure 😩

I’d be feeling like I’m gonna fall sometimes so I hold on just to catch my balance then I continue with my hands on my hips or my arms are just on the side once I find balance again
