You could cut your drywall patch so the paper is wider than the hole and it makes mudding easier. Not sure if I’m explaining this properly. 🙈 Basically cut your drywall to an inch larger all around the hole and then cut the part behind the paper an inch smaller to fit right into the hole.

Cabinet maker here: thank you for not doing a dramatic sledge hammer removal of cabinets. I know in very rare occasions they nailed them, but usually a drill and a couple screws will remove them. (then reuse or sell them. no need for dramatics. we'll done and very honest. thank you)
