it's weird because when people tell you that if you need something you can tell them they either can't help, don't have time, don't know how etc it's like a vicious cycle that is tough to overcome

Durante años me costó decir que no. No sé si a ti también te pasa. Decía que sí a favores que no quería, a salir cuando quería descansar, a quedarme hasta tarde, a complacer a los demás. Hasta que un día caí en la cuenta de que estaba viviendo la vida de todos menos la mía. Pensaba que decir que no era egoísta o que, si lo decía, decepcionaría o incomodaría a alguien. Pero he ido comprendiendo que un «sí» que nace del miedo es una forma callada de abandonarme y que quien no sabe decir «no» tampoco es del todo dueño de su «sí». El límite es la línea que marca dónde termino yo y dónde comienza el otro. Sin esa línea, uno se va diluyendo en las necesidades de los demás hasta olvidar las propias. Poner límites incomoda a quienes estaban cómodos con que no los pusieras. Pero he aprendido a dejarlos incomodarse, porque su incomodidad es más soportable que tu propio abandono.
