I swear some people just think "dinosaur" just means big and sxtinct. I've heard people refer to extinct mammals as dinosaurs. probably same people who think insects aren't animals.

If one person asks another, “What’s your favorite dinosaur?”, it would be extremely uncommon to hear “parakeet”, or any bird, as the response. I know the scientific definition does, but the colloquial definition of dinosaur doesn’t include birds.
