The Norwegian Armed Forces terminated the NH90 program after more than 20 years of delays, low availability, and serious maintenance issues. Out of 14 helicopters ordered in 2001, only a fraction were fully operational, and the fleet delivered around 700 flight hours per year instead of the expected ~3,900. In 2022, the Norwegian Ministry of Defence cancelled the contract, grounded the fleet, and demanded a refund. The helicopters were returned to NHIndustries, and Norway received hundreds of millions of euros in compensation. Bottom line: decades of delays, poor operational capability, weak follow-up from the manufacturer — and Norway finally pulled the plug.

Canada will be soon taking bids for Tactical Helicopters, among other roles and mission, as many as 150 airframes. This will obviously bid for one or more of these sought after contracts.
