So I dislike that she just seems forced into like every plot. They need the fire department shes there which is fine that was her job. but they need an EMT shes there which made sense if fire was already on scene however shes literally like the only EMT all the time. then shes now im the army reserves pushed into another plot randomly. even in the latest season shes guarding a witness for literally no reason. and theres constant examples of her just being forced into situations any other character wouldnt be in. And the other thing that is annoying is that any time her and john have a problem she just walks off. Like especially with the assassin plot line. When she was introduced she was a good character but she is unironically the Johnny sinns of the rookie and completely unrelatable

she’s just boring. it’s not the same thing as jessica jones, given jessica is actually a well-written characters and she’s not just “perfect” and “badass” and only focused on herself. bailey is not among the main characters and it still feels like she’s been given more importance than the actual mains

They changed the way she was written. Old Bailey would have never been manipulated by her old army captain and then used that to push Nolan to move against his best interests. None of that would have happened.

I think for me it was because they kept finding ways for her to be at every single incident, even travelling overseas. Like it feels too forced sometimes

Aside from the fact that we barely see her do her actual job of fighting fires, until recently, I think the writers dropped the ball on incorporating her deep enough into the show via connection and partnership. Name any other character and I can name 3-4 friendships or partnerships that they have with other characters. Bailey still feels

I don’t like that she was written to be both perfect and also have flaws. She’s made a lot of selfish decisions that the show has, infuriatingly, turned on John. Between the kids, the Malvado storyline, DC, and some other minor things, it’s clear she has issues, but at the same time we’re constantly told how amazing she is and how she’s out of John’s league and she’s never given accountability or taken accountability (barring the most recent storyline which I really appreciated). I could take the more flat, perfection or I could take the selfishness if it were presented as a flaw with character growth but both being put together bugs me.

I think the recurring problem is that her actions have an effect on John, but she doesn't seem to take that into account when making decisions. Between getting mad John for not being instantly cool with her commiting several felonies that could land them both in jail and hiding it from him for months, or unilaterally deciding to still go forward with moving to DC even after making it clear it was a team decision, it makes her look super selfish and inconsiderate of John.

Im really undecided right now, I was really upset about how she handled the DC thing specifically, because AFTER he really did do his due diligence following up and considering the move for her, shes the one that said, please do some digging if it doesn’t work I’ll drop it, and then didnt follow through… if my partner did that i would be FURIOUS with him. I’d always loved Bailey but the DC fight thing definitely rubbed me the wrong way but it didn’t undo that fact that ive liked her since she was introduced… if that makes sense?

yeah, I never liked her ever. boring character, too perfect, too much in everything, her flaws aren't actually explored, she's just a foil for Nolan she doesn't feel like her own character and it doesn't help the actress has a very flat delivery and is not very expressive

I think the thing I don’t like is I don’t really feel any chemistry with her and John and I find their relationship kind of boring. It feels like they just added her for the sake of John having a relationship and she feels very separate from everyone else in the show

No im sorry but she actually just doesn’t fit there, her character exists in a vacuum, i could write a whole essay on how the writers screwed up over and over again with the way they use her character and thats what is annoying. The DC situation is not why people hate her😐

I like her, I just don’t like how she’s forced into every single plot when she’s not actually needed in it. Her character was so good and I think they need to involve more of her firefighting in it, instead of forcing her into everything.

I don’t like her being shoehorned into random situations. Also her long list of accomplishments feel fake since we never actually see her being as amazing as everyone acts like she is. The final nail was the toxic way she tried to make Nolan moved. The other stuff u mentioned has nothing to do with my dislike of her. Tbh the way she handled it was entirely, not “right”, but pretty reasonable/understandable.

I liked her at first, but I do think she is a bit 2D for me. Like, they gave her a backstory of being broken and the first entry of Jason was good, but now I think it’s a bit handwave-y that bc she’s “good at everything” they don’t have to give her plot, they just throw her at a crime scene and let her fight the bad guy.

I think my struggle with her is that we really only see her in relation to Nolan. Other characters have friends and/or family that we get to see them interact with outside of Nolan, whereas it kinda feels like Bailey's social life doesn't exist. I liked her at first, because the show seemed to be setting up potential for some really interesting character development and relationships... And then didn't follow through. The stories she does get fall flat, and don't (imo) meaningfully change her as a person or leave lasting impacts on her relationships.
