@beccabullock: Replying to @Cam | SAHM🌼 how scary is it that foods/drinks MARKETED TOWARD KIDS contain an ingredient that young children can’t handle? Have you ever seen a warning label on a slushie machine? Bc I sure haven’t!
McDonald’s slushies have 0 glycerol. Daughter loves them!

Kids shouldn’t be given drinks this high in sugar anyway. No slushies, no soda, dilute juice with water.

Ok dug into this a bit more thanks for the scare tactics…. But glyceryl is primarily used in reduced sugar and sugar free options. Which here in the USA isn’t the primary options which is why when I looked it up the warnings were coming from mostly the UK and EU where they’re much more controlling about the sugar levels of the available beverage options leading to more options containing stabilizers to replace the function of the sugar which does keep it at the consistency all by itself in the correct amounts. Now do kids need that much sugar probably not but a couple times a summer won’t hurt as long as you don’t choose the sugar free option and keep it small.

I’ve checked the ingredients in popular slurpee places in Canada and none contain this. Is it an American thing?

First of all why does a toddler need a damn slushy. A drink that’s ice and sugar??? You give them soda too???

Canadian 7-11 slurpees don’t contain glycerol. Also, I believe for other places I think it’s usually “sugar free ones” that do.

In some countries where they're trying to limit sugar, they use this as a substitute to help it freeze. We don't use glycerol in Canada.
