I tried leaving, did you know America is the only country that double taxes of citizens. So even if I got my citizenship in another country and got dual citizenship. They still want me paying taxes to America, even if I was living in Europe and paying European taxes for living there. So I would get taxed twice a year just for being an American citizen unless I give up my American citizenship.

It’s not just expensive… I had to give up almost all my belongings when I left the US, all my paintings, years worth of journals, most of my clothes, and everything that wouldn’t fit in a suitcase. And now I live in a place where I have to learn a new language and start from scratch. It’s so hard. I’m glad I left, but it’s not for everyone
