@willigansisland: Here’s a fun homebrew item for you all! Make sure you stay till the end to see a surprise appearance from my dog, Roux! The cup lets you see a memory of the previous person who drank from the cup. It’s very simple, yet very effective in getting players to start role-playing. I highly recommend you have it in the tavern where everybody starts! What are your favorite homebrew items, because this one is mine! #dnd #dungeonsanddragons #dndtiktok
this honestly makes me think of the possibility that maybe the bbeg was the one who originally drank from it last, letting that memory seem unlinked to their backstory until it all comes together later

my first thought was "you drink after your friend and you see the memory of them drinking out of the cup moments ago" lmao

but then after the last player drinks from it, a random npc sees their memories and if they have a dark background the npc comments on it to bring drama or something like that

love thus idea man. I did something similar. Each of my players made a bargain to give up a memory, something good and something bad. they would loose those memories, but I gifted them something of significant value. Oh I shoukd mention they were isekaid, so they we sharing themselves.

I love this and i'm going to put it in the yawning portal since I like to play in the city of waterdeep. i\nOften play durnin as a crusty old man.\nBut I think you would find it funny when he sees a table of new adventurers to lend them his cup. then he will probably take bets on whether or not lending that group , the cup will cause a fight or not. double your bet if the fight becomes physical and you call it correctly
