For me my mcas came into full bloom in perimenopause and seems to be related for me to fluctuating hormones.

I bet you in 10 years from now there will be enough research to classify MCAS as an AUTOIMMUNE disorder. But maybe I’m wrong 🤷♀️🤷♀️

I’ve had 4 docs say they think I have MCAS (many symptoms and also have EDS and POTS). Taking H1 and H2 and GPL1s have all helped with symptoms when I’ve taken them. I can’t get an immunologist to either test or if they will they will schedule an appointment for a blood test which show within normal range (I am more symptomatic at night so I probably will never catch it this way). Do you have any advice for those of us trying to get diagnosed?

What do you mean most doctors don’t believe MCAS? Did you mean old doctors or GPs/family doctors? Genuine questions

My hemotolgist and immunologist both understand and treat, thank goodness. They did both tell me it's not the easiest to diagnosis and many doctors are not familiar.

My mom had lymphedema and hated going to the doctor because so many of them didn't believe that that was a disease.

medicine is hard.... understanding it at a biochemical level is much more complex and even the best doctors are not perfect. Treating these complex conditions requires being able to identify it and thats sometimes much harder.

Thank you for talking about this! I’m lucky to have an allergist/immunologist who listens, cares, and actually treats my illnesses. But outside of that I’m the one teaching my doctors about MCAS so it’s wonderful to see a doctor talking about it!

My old Allergist MD would only diagnose it off of Tryptase levels. Thank goodness my other Dr's and his RNP in his office felt differently, and went off of my symptoms because in people with MCAS Tryptase is only positive about 50% of the time! 🤦♀️Turns out I have MCAS, OAS, and Latex Cross Reactive, the new Allergist who is younger agreed with that diagnosis that my other Dr's and the RNP in the Allergist office had made.
