ive been here for about a year now. they are welcoming, but also aggressive and dont take no for an answer very easily. my neighbor. a kind older lady was constantly bringing me food. which was good. but it quickly became too much. I mean, like multiple times per day, and I'm trying to diet and lose weight. she doesnt speak english. so I try to tell her via google translate. so maybe there was a translation error. one day she came over while I was cooking, brought me food. turned off the food I was cooking and started scolding me to eat her food. I had to be very stern with her, and I'm not sure how much she understood. but now she brings no food. I feel a little bad, but it was also intrusivly hospitable. So aggressive yes. but in a good way. overall I feel bad about the situation. but dont really know how else to handle it. myself and my friend have also been invited to a lot of gatherings. one for national day we are hanging out with basically the whole street. talking via google translate mostly. one neighbor kicked my friend in the balls from behind. not really sure why it happened but it did. I had my friend go into our house. and the neighbors gathered the guy who did the kicking and forced him into his house. almost 8 months later, during tet he apologized to me. but never my friend. honestly he seems like the odd one out. everyone else seems very friendly. but aggressive in a way where it is difficult to get them to take no for an answer.

My first time to Vietnam in 2016. The first day I was there I was invited to a wedding. It was a wild party. Vietnam is special. In da nang now.

It's a heartfelt truth that in Vietnam, foreigners are treated like family. They receive a warm welcome even from total strangers. Here, it doesn’t matter who u r or where u come from, as long as u love this country, people will go above and beyond to help u.

If Vietnam had a political system with less corruption and greater fairness, I truly believe it would be the best place in the world to live. Vietnamese people are incredibly friendly and open. The culture is strongly family-oriented, and close relationships among neighbors create a rich and vibrant daily life. Some people who prefer a very quiet, private lifestyle (without being disturbed) might not find Vietnam suitable. But for me, a life filled with constant human interaction and connection feels more authentic and true to the nature of living.
