I agree with you and respect your ability to retract when you make an error. In the example of Knitty and Harper, I think Knitty’s reply to the cbc’s report on Harper was valid though. She said ‘It’s not closed for her yet’. We will see.

it breaks my heart that I have lost trust in the majority of people. I fact check everything even my favorite creators, I feel guilty I feel the need to double check but sadly in the age of misinformation it's necessary. 😟

She put up another video after the CBC video ran and I thought she had some valid points about why she could still be right. But you are correct, we should be doing our own fact checking. There was a time that I would never have doubted the integrity of the CBC either but those days are long over. Especially for the fact that they won’t get rid of Rosemary Barton who is clearly biased and that they have no trouble publishing articles quoting anonymous sources.

While we are all clutching our pearls over who is the more qualified researcher of fact, let’s remember this thread started as a defence of Stephen Harper’s integrity by the CBC. Considering the history of ethical lapses by his government I don’t think it is unreasonable to assume he might be unprincipled. More importantly, let’s celebrate the fact that we can still have these discussions in a respectful peer to peer manner which aims to challenge these questions and bring the truth to light whatever it may be from whomever has revealed it.
