They originated in Central Asia and were bred to protect flocks from predators - often working independently in very harsh environments. That history matters. They weren’t bred to follow constant commands. They were bred to think for themselves. They’re powerful. Protective. Loyal to their family. And naturally wary of strangers. Which means they need experienced, calm leadership from day one. This isn’t a breed that thrives on chaos or inconsistency. They need clear boundaries, structure, and an owner who understands guardian instincts. In the right home, they’re steady and devoted. In the wrong home, they can become difficult very quickly.
