I just got one for my cats, it's filterless, and pumpless. it has 2 reservoirs, 1 for your clean water, and 1 for the used water. the clean one empties a predetermined amount that you choose, based on how many cats you have, how often they visit the water fountain, and then you choose how often it dumps said water, and lets it gravity fill the smaller bowl up front for drinking out of every 6/8/12 hours, again, based on how often you need. it's so much easier to use, and WAY cleaner than ones with filters. it's also really inexpensive. The only thing I'd have done differently is I'd have made the whole thing out of stainless steel instead of plastic, but it's a good start! at least the drinking bowl part is stainless.

this one still gets biofilm, i have it. just clean it often. an honest criticism, the ridges are pretty low, so whenever i clean it theres water sitting on the base because my cats accidentally spill some over the side when they drink. otherwise its a good product
