@dr.shawna: Being an influencer, having a platform, is inherently political and refusing to talk about politics is a political choice. Drawing on the concept of “the personal is political” from feminists scholars and scholars of power, I dive in to the history of this “performatively apolitical” stance and how it shows up in social media today. For more on that, let’s go to the research! #TikTokLearningCampaign #hiddenhistory #feminist Influencer politics. Apolitical influencers. Influencer responsibility. Social media politics. not taking away from Combahee River Collective because they're super important and relevant, but also wanted to mention Carol Hanisch for anyone who doesn't know that little bit of history and the editors naming her essay "the personal is political" in 1970. Carol herself doesn't take credit for the title, but the essay and her early thoughts on consciousness raising is an interesting glimpse at its development from a few years before CRC and how it turned into so much more :)

Goddess of Bad Roads :
Deciding to ‘not be political’ is a political choice. When I say this to my Comp 1 students, their minds are blown, because I’m not criticizing them, I’m criticizing my college who keep trying to take away our academic freedom so we don’t upset our current opposer. Since I teach ESL, I ignore them. My entire class is a political choice my college made.
