Hello. 5 times top DJ Mag Top 100 DJ award winner here. Been doing this for 26 years. You know what is the only thing you need to do right as a DJ? Mixing. Apart from having a good taste for music and reading the crowd and all the usual. But this was a train wrack rather she acted like nothing happened or not. If you can’t DJ, just don’t do it. I've been a DJ for 3 decades and she wasn't ready. She shouldn't have been put in that situation. She should've been protected from herself. That being said, the performance was awful and the criticism is correct.

Not hating. Just an opinion. She did not try to correct the train wreck. To me it looks like she’s not even aweare of the train wreck. Allt of DJs mess up. But either correct beats or try too. She dis neither unfortunately. And yes we all have our bad days. But. Its boiler room. More prep work needed perhaps.

Facts but to be on a grand stage like Boiler Room and not being able to a basic beat match and mix is not a good look because it, props for keeping the show going but Boiler Room needs better quality control, but shout out to the lady DJs holding it down, Charisma, SoSuperSam, and you too, you’ve came a long way from kareoke night at the ace rooftop- much love and keep doing you, glad you’re guiding women towards learning the skills cus women have good intuition for song selection and paired with technical ability makes them unstoppable

There’s a certain level of professionalism expected when you accept a platform like Boiler Room. At that level, preparation is expected. Planning and rehearsing a set is not about playing it safe, it’s about respecting the opportunity, the crowd, and the fact that the performance is being recorded and will live online long after the night ends. Everyone makes small mistakes during live mixing, that’s part of DJing, but what people reacted to here wasn’t a minor slip. The moment felt unprepared and uncomfortable to watch, which is why the clip spread so quickly. A Boiler Room crowd shows up expecting confidence, control, and flow, and the audience at home expects the same.

I respect your opinion on the subject. But let’s be honest djing isn’t that hard anymore. Especially when you now have the grid bpm and even the sync button on the cdjs. Her mixing through the entire set was awful not just the clanging on mixing but the levels were all off. For boiler room to book this sort of talent is embarrassing

I’ve done 4 boiler rooms and I practised for hundreds of hours leading up to them to make sure that I was at the top of my game for each one, some people just aren’t ready and it’s unfortunate because I see what the idea was but some people simply aren’t ready. Hanks boiler room was one of the worst ones ever, they actually took it down I think

Thing about Grimes is she didn’t prepare as an artist. Pre 2020 Grimes was a better artist than that Coachella set. Just her and keyboards. Miss that.
