For people who can’t comprehend complex emotions: you can absolutely be crying about being upset at yourself while also crying about being proud of getting silver at the Olympics. Second on the WORLD is HUGE. Getting on the podium IS huge!! Knowing a mistake cost you first is also huge. Finishing your sport at the top is huge. Competing for your last time is HUGE. You can feel all of those emotions while still also feeling grateful to just experience the whirl wind that is The Olympics.

I saw a Japanese interview.She was truly happy to receive the silver medal. She wasn’t crying because she failed to win gold, but because she felt she could have done better.
