I have high functioning bpd and my therapist told me from therapy sessions my mom has npd and I started questioning whether or not she might've had bpd as well , and the question that answered that was "when you're upset does she dismiss your feelings or make it about herself?" And she indeed made herself the victim and invalidated my feelings . Npd they will turn it around on you and they will either be victim or hero . Leaving you feeling worse about what they did

this explains why my mum was great with me as a child, but as soon as i started to become a teen the relationship shifted, and as an adult i had to cut contact because she had become so so mean and nasty that i don’t even recognise her anymore

For me, no contact was the only answer regardless the condition. I took her abuse for 55 years - when she laid into my adult daughter for no reason - that’s it I’m done. BEST DECISION EVER

Many who are BPD have narcissistic traits. This doesn’t mean that someone who is BPD also is NPd. (While both often co-occur)
