@thats_inappropriate: What is the hardest part of raising teenagers? Like what specifically about this stage of parenting causes you the most stress and worry? How do you deal with it?
Honestly my biggest problem is that she's in middle school and always wants to be alone and doesn't really want to talk about school or what's going on with her. I stress about her mental health. I stress about her feeling like she has no one to talk to if she has something going on.

I just got yelled at for not responding to her text requesting me to draft up a message to a new hairstylist she wants to go to. Mind you she’s bed rotting right now while I am carpooling her brother and his teammates to baseball AND basketball practice. Then I get home and ask her to come downstairs to discuss this request she has and get completely ignored.

My biggest problem with my teen is sleep. She's always backwards, which makes school a nightmare. I think they should have night school. No Joke.

they don't listen to anything you tell them to do. "yeah ok just a minute" ...an hour later .. "oh I forgot" 🙄

I would say my biggest challenge so far has been with my 16 year old teen. She has no concept of money and how life works as an adult. We’ve tried getting her a job, having her apply to jobs and even having her reach out to babysit. She refuses to do it. She won’t work and just expects everything to be handed to her. Her insurance for her car, gas for her car, expensive clothes and makeup, fast food daily for school lunch, anything and everything she wants. We do NOT give all this all the time. We are just struggling to get her to want to learn and work. She also won’t learn to cook or clean for herself. She expects mom to always do it for her 😳.

Umm I would say the fact that they they know everything before I get the chance to teach them. They don’t need my advice because they already know all of it (until they don’t). Also everything I say or do can be triggering. There is a shift tho when they move out and go to college. And all that nagging and constant reminders turns them into respectul young adults who will make you proud that yiu never gave up.

Have them understand that you are not a housemaid and that they need to do their part of the job.

Letting go is the hardest for me. From the time they wake up (talking to self to zip it!) when I want to preach, to the time they finally speak to me and how I want to so badly put in my input when I’m there to only listen 😩 and when I guide them only to see them( while they stare directly into my eyes!) take the path I don’t wouldn’t risk. As they tell me to be supportive or open minded 😳

the existence of consequences is the hardest thing to prove. maybe i took too much time to teaching what society wants and mediocre is the worst word someone can be called.

Letting them go, that’s the hardest part. Both mine are at Uni and I miss them so much. When they are here though, they still can’t load a dishwasher 😂

Well - I am partially alienated from my daughter by my ex. So have very little interaction with her 💔 but I still enjoy watching and being just a little jealous 😉

If you haven't already started to insist that they stay away from drugs and alcohol, do it now.
There will always be a peer that will try to lead them in the wrong direction. Don't assume that your little angel would never...
