My mother. Told me I wouldn’t get dinner if I didn’t do a certain chore and eventually I went to the doctor with her to what I thought was a checkup and in front of my face she said she was concerned about my weight like yes I may be bigger that normal but maybe don’t say it infront of my face?

I spent years being told I needed to take better care of myself and make an effort, and then that I was too dressed up and took too long getting ready and was too high maintenance. Sometimes an hour apart. It's exhausting. As an adult, I still can't understand why anyone would talk to their kids that way.
