As someone who was SA by my father, and whose ex knew yet still reverse discarded me — which led to TBI and tinnitus from the attempts (and being told to cry to my therapist about it) — you are so right. Abuse thrives in silence, and what they fear most is exposure. My father was the type to help a stranger with a broken-down car, and my ex was very charismatic. If we talk about these things, people would understand that just because someone acts normal or kind doesn’t mean they are. We have to recognize the cycle of abuse and create open communication so people feel safe coming forward and being believed.
