For math. When you say you read every question, if you’re reading them, how do you know if they can identify numbers or identify what’s being asked ie: subtraction vs addition.

I actually 100% agree with all of these, but I feel so judged by other teachers/admin if my kids aren’t quiet in the halls! It’s not me, I’m just scared others will think I’m a bad teacher.. 🫣

I start the year reading but we take the Iowa basics tests and they require them to read some stuff to themselves so I end the year having them try reading on their own.

Your school must be super laid back. Our principal would have a cow if we didn’t do silent lines, students at my school aren’t allowed to wear hoodies, our principal also says students must remain seated in the cafeteria. They can get up until it’s time to go. I do agree with a lot of this though.

Yes, and I don't do hw unless they don't finish something in class. Just encourage reading at home if anything.
