As a Guatemalan, we tend to dip the bread in the coffee and then have a nice bite👍🏼

My friend's dad owns a Guatemalan bakery here in The Bay. Many are traditionally drier because they're meant for dipping. They soak up the coffee, tea, or chocolate. They also last longer and can be used for other recipes. I'm Mexican and some of our breads are like that too. My mom grew up very poor and as kids they ate bread with coffee. It was a treat they sometimes got, but always for dipping. Then later many breads came out fluffier and spongier. Many aren't used to it, but it's also history and memories. 🥰 Love me some puerquitos. Many don't like how dry they can be, but I loooove them and make them with my son for Christmas. :)
