I feel so bad because I'm in a similar situation with my half-sister 😭 Except I'm the excited one. It's difficult but you have to accept that once it gets to a certain point, they don't want to form any new familial bonds. At least, not with strangers who bombard them. You just have to give them space, even if it sucks.

This is how it was when my dad’s kids reached out. I just didn’t care. I was an adult and I already formed my bonds, I didn’t care to try and meet people that I had nothing in common with. I didn’t care to know his kids, his parents, none of them. I was more annoyed they bombarded into my life expecting a relationship.

i feel really bad for the lady because she sounds deeply lonely. but i also agree that op wasn't obligated to fix that. i think growing up with someone is a lot more important than their shared dna, i think my sister would hate me if we hadn't grown up together 😭
