covering a mirror/mirrored surface with a black cloth has nothing to do with vampirism. if anything, it would signify that he really DID die. mirrors can trap souls. you cover mirrors when someone dies so that their spirit doesn't get stuck in the mirror world. interestingly, this is a custom rooted in MANY, many cultures... and it's definitely practiced in New Orleans among a certain crowd.
