D Currie Jr :
that is sodium, not salt. you expelled the chloride. That stuff is volatile in water

for everyone saying it's a pure sodium metal, it's not. sodium as a metal is very very soft, it wouldn't cast like that. also melting sodium choloride wouldn't expel the chlorine nor would it change the charge of the sodium ions

HomelessPotato :
The color in the mold is due to a reaction between the molten salt and the release agent, the yellowish color where the molten salt was exposed only to air could be sodium peroxide and/or if an iron crucible was used, the molten salt pulled iron from the crucible and that iron became iron(III) chloride and stained the salt.

but is it salt anymore after melting it. could you grind it up and it still taste like salt? or have you created a different periodical element? if so what does the salt become? and would table salt be different from pink and different from sea salt.

so does it just evaporate the chlorine making it only sodium

heating it disrupts that halite structure that makes salt look like salt

You need electrolysis to separate the sodium from the chloride
