Another positive view, is the longer sleep stretches would also be benefiting him. My baby has just stated having 3-4 hour stretches and he is so much happier during the day, and is day napping a lot better! Hope this helps the mum guilt a little more… it did for me.

I night weaned at 13 months and it was a total game changer, baby slept through the night by night 3, I never left her cry and always comforted her but just stopped breastfeeding after bedtime. Still fed before bed time and one we were up, she protested a few nights and took sups of water, but once she realized milk wasn't on the cards anymore, she quit looking for it. So keep going, it might even take a week but you've the hardest part done! 💪

I've recently implemented gentle & responsive sleep training with @Calm Babies (documented on my profile), bubs is SO much happier without broken sleep as am I. Keep at it with the nights, OF COURSE we know our babies will need us from time to time, but at that age, they often wake from habit over need (circumstantial of course). you're doing a great job mumma. whatever you need to do to keep your mental health in check directly helps your bubs too. societal pressures can be LOUD, but only you know what it best for you & your baby xx

I'm curious what it will look like once you've weaned him? If he still wakes and needs some type of soothing/comfort, won't you wake up anyway even if you don't get up to him? Or do you plan on taking shifts where you swap who is looking after him overnight?

Its sooo hard when they've developed a sleep association but the change usually happens fast! Youre not abandoning your baby at all! Even when youre trying to teach your baby another routine, youre still attending to their needs.

It's worth it!!!! I weaned my baby at 16months-ish. Best decision ever! He now sleeps through, 10 hr sleeps are common and amazing! He sleeps with me and loves a cuddle, but so do I 😂🥰

I also got to 10 months and hit a massive wall. We started changing things then to, only took a week or 2 and he was sleeping through the night. Youre doing great 🩷

It’s so hard when you get a good nights sleep and your body is almost worse like it realises how badly you’ve been sleeping?? Motherhood is a trip 😵💫

Once he’s fully weaned/adjusted to the weaning I wouldn’t be surprised if he starts sleeping longer stretches / overnight.

I have to do this soon. Does he eat a lot through the day? My baby is so curious all day I feel like he gets his calories at night.

We did the same thing. My partner did this and resettled for a week when my son was 15 months old. I didn’t go in at all and by the end he slept through the night! Still occasionally wakes 2 or so times but I’ll take that!
