@lilytwelftree: Founder content attracts founders not customers, and that’s great for community, but can be a tricky loop. #founder #startups #startup #startupinvesting #investing

as a founder, it’s just really hard to post about much else because so much of my day is just on my biz, but totally agree with you that it doesn’t attract customers but more other founders

This is similar to art content you attract a lot of other artists

i think it’ll backfire people are over indexing on founder content before having anything robust or amazing. also the most amazing brands don’t have people taking you through days in the life, the product and aspiration is so great cause it’s kind of a mystery

I pretty much only shop from founder led brands now and less from faceless brands like Nike, lululemon etc.

I work w a ton of founder led brands and honestly I think that people love being first to a journey. You’re really trying to develop a community of early adopters. And w so many products and businesses exploring other avenues of investment, it’s often times the best pool of folks to rally around your growth. But I do think it’s a fun line of making sure it’s tied to what you’re building too.

I think when you are both the founder AND the target customer (you created this product for others like you), then there’s a synergy that works. But otherwise I agree with you

I completely agree! I almost never talk about building behind the scenes. Instead, I talk about fashion, which is more so what my target audience is interested in

I think when people can see the bigger picture of what you’re building and why, it gives them something to connect to early so by the time it launches, they’re already invested in you, not just the product.

I so agree with this. I love following people who are building things, but it’s so tough to just talk about building all the time

LOVE grace but also I started participating in the $100k Stan store challenge and they blocked me on Instagram and then when I emailed them, I got a “mail undelivered” response😃 lol so not a fan

I’m a new founder aswell. But you can talk about things your customers relate to so more likely customers will comment. If they keep seeing you, they’re likely to like u more and convert. You need to soft sell in your face to camera and but it can’t just be face to camera. Also I avoid using #hashtags that say founder led/foundercontent instead I use hashtags niches my customers are interested in which is relatable to my brand. Also avoid being miserable how your brand is suffering, it puts people off, usually when founders see excited about thier brand / product, people are more interested. These are just things I’ve learnt from actually analysing Aimee smale/ grace b and more.

Emma Grede is the only founder content that I follow with any consistency and what’s ironic is that I don’t like her Kardashian business relationships. I follow her for her podcast: the guests she secured and her interview skills are top notch. I am not a consumer of any brands she sells. 🤷🏾‍♀️

I think there are more benefits to building in public, and building a personal brand in general. Ama from Plantmade did a fab job building her personal brand so that when she lost the business, she’s been able to pivot into her next thing so seamlessly because her brand was not solely tied to the business if that makes sense?

Yessss I completely agree with this!! I’ve just not been able to find the balance especially when my product is B2B and it’s a software so nothing tangible to show

I agree with you on this cause on my brand account I’ve been told to document and share my journey but I hesitate to go all in because I’m scared of attracting only other founders but do you know any creators that are good at straddling the line between the two?

Grace works because she is the brand. Build trust > audience becomes consumer > launch your product. People want to be like Grace which gives her a leg up. You have to market your life and people will buy in just bc they like you. I’ve been watching Grace since I was like 14. I love her and her brand happens to be cool as well. However I would never buy her product with

Yes this is exactly how I feel. I love bts content of running a brand but I’m always curious if the audience is the creators actual consumer.

I apply “founders content” concepts only to my in-person interactions or stories online with clients because it makes them feel more connected to the brand/me but zero information online posts itself . I use to work in makeup + an MBA specialized in marketing and too often it becomes a snake eating its own tail concept when over used 🥀
