Correct Gandhi did make that comment. However during the Anglo/ Boer war he saw first hand the discrimination and barbaric treatment of African people by the British and that's when he changed his perception about African people and therefore became a human rights activist. Therefore Mandela and many freedom fighters honor Gandhi
