Sometimes it is also a trauma response called mind reading. When children grow up in environments that are unpredictable and toxic, they often become adults who think that they have to constantly read the room and forecast where other people are thinking so that they can act accordingly before they get hurt.

I think people who call themselves empaths have such a low opinion of other people that they assume their very basic human empathy is actually some rare hypersensitivity. It's misanyhropy in disguise.

How do I describe that no matter what, I can’t stay mad at people because I read into every detail about them that makes them the person doing the thing I’m mad about. I think people say empath and mean that, and try to frame it as a positive thing when it’s really not. Because it causes issues for you and other people in your life

the comments are WILD. look at this world. empathy is NOT basic. its nowhere to be found. and when I say I‘m an empath I do NOT mean that I‘ll make everything about my emotions but I mean crying out of nowhere for hurting animals and humans on this planet and all the horrible things going on. thats what most of us mean. I mean the moods of people around me instantly taking me over eventhough I do not want it. not the weird mystical „i am so different“ people. side note: i have audhd.
