Steve M :
Big financial players like BlackRock, Vanguard, and major banks are not seriously invested in XRP. Anything they hold is a tiny fraction of their portfolios. Smart money moves months or even a year ahead of hype, often six months to a year before the mainstream knows about it. History shows big investors act early when they see real potential and know what could be profitable. By the time XRP hits social media or the news, the major players have already decided, and their absence is a warning. Ripple Labs still controls about forty percent of the supply, and a few large wallets hold most of the rest, making it very centralized. Banks stick with SWIFT because it is deeply embedded, secure, and reliable. They have invested heavily over the years, paying fees and maintaining infrastructure to keep it dominant. SWIFT is upgrading with faster messaging, richer data, and more efficiency, making it competitive with Ripple. Strong special interests support SWIFT because thousands of banks benefit if it remains the standard. Governments and central banks are exploring their own digital currencies or CBDCs, and if countries move to sovereign digital money, banks will likely use those instead of XRP. If major players invested in XRP, they could lose money if adoption is limited, regulations tighten, Ripple Labs makes decisions that flood the market or restrict liquidity, or if fees and infrastructure costs are higher than expected. Competing systems like SWIFT or CBDCs reduce demand, and banks already profit from SWIFT, so switching to XRP carries risk. History shows hype does not guarantee success. The ICO boom of 2017 and dot-com failures like Pets.com and Webvan show heavily promoted investments often fail. Considering who controls XRP, who is actually investing, competition from SWIFT, the potential for CBDCs and sovereign currencies, and institutional behavior, the odds are stacked against XRP being a long-term winner. Most upside is speculative, and the lack of backing from the biggest investors and banks is a strong reason to be cautious before committing serious money.
