@abbyexplainsitall: Dad made breakfast this morning - big piece of egg, I will tear it in half (just once) so it’s still big for him, the slice of steak will also be torn in half, tomatoes, and avocado. These are all my favorite first foods to serve. It looks like a lot but I prepare for most of it to be dropped. He will probably only “eat” about 5-10% of this. And that is OK and NORMAL at this stage. This is only his 7th TIME being offered real food. I love the tomatoes as the something sweet. It’s also a good one for him to mash between his gums. Same for avocado. They are a little more difficult because if they aren’t ripe enough it’s no good to feed, but if they are over ripe they can’t make it to his mouth without breaking apart. The egg is a great in between texture. Not overly mushy and not overly firm. The perfect texture for actually learning to chew. And that is why it is my favorite food to offer. The steak he will not get much from, he will gum all the juices out of it and get some great flavor (this is the same steak we all ate for dinner in a lime type marinade). It’s a great way to introduced seasoning and complex flavors so that you’re child is familiar with them and everything doesn’t have to be covered in ketchup for them to eat. #babyledweaning #blw #babyfood
