You should have specified White women. All non-White women are sent to the colonies or to the Jezebels, except for Jewish women who are forced to convert. The books are about White Christian nationalism. The series really undermined the meaning of the work with its colorblind approach.

I think the show doesn't set up aunt Lydia well, as in testaments it's clear that she has been against Gilead the whole time. with everything that happens with the handmaid's tale show being much longer and having a lot more happen than the original book, I think they've made it much harder to make aunt Lydia believable in the testaments show

Why have they deleted her back story as a judge in the testaments. It was crucial that she was talking about the constitution etc when the takeover happened. The testaments is missing the mark!!!

the audiobook for the testaments was so good because Ann Dowd narrated the aunt Lydia chapters, and her voice is so distinct, it was good to hear the Aunt Lydia (Bryce Dallas Howard was NOT my fave 😭)
