@kmendelsohn: Replying to @Sophia Cheli how did I get my job at Calvin Klein in women’s collection? The old fashioned way through the ad in the paper! #calvinklein
It’s so interesting to hear but it makes me think how things were so much easier back then. Imagine wanting to work somewhere so you just send over your resume and get an interview! I wonder why things are so different today

I think as Gen X, we have a view of work that millennials and Gen Z do not have. We weren’t looking for emotional support from our employers. we were looking for a job. i’ve never heard you say something and thought God that seems horrible. I just thought that seems normal. I worked in event planning and PR and there was always stuff like what you described. I had a boss who enjoyed making people cry. My goal was never to let that man see a tear come from my eye, and he never did. Also, I have an Art History degree too ;)

Your memory is so impressive. The details that you recall are things I’ve completely forgotten about…such as searching WWD for job postings.

I find this so fascinating! I interned at Self magazine and Cynthia rowley and they were the best best days. Wish I would have stayed in fashion but, yes. The jobs were hard to get.
