It is my understanding that the very data privacy Apple claims to adhere to is what prevented apple from being able to create better models. Google never pretended to care about privacy.

Apple did use Google Maps until...honestly I can't remember why they made their own. I expect Apple will still be working on their own model so that they can unload Google at some point. I expect the problem is getting enough curated data for the model. I doubt they'd want Reddit posts, even if it wasn't already locked down.

It’s criminal that a company with the resources Apple has, they couldn’t get Siri working in a decade. Apple Intelligence is an oxymoron, yet the stock keeps climbing.

Apple doesn’t build everything. For example, they use Cassandra and other database platforms. I do hope they run it on their private cloud, or I will not be using it.
