1. Fission fuel is heavy.
2. If a rocket blows up mid-launch, radioactive debris goes everywhere.

To accelerate a rocket up to 3.5% of the speed of light it would take a long time not because of fuel or thrust limitations but because a living being couldn’t take such acceleration in a short time span. Let’s not forget it will need to decelerate long before reaching destination.

Why do you go far for fusion drive if mere radio waves oscillation can create plasma enough to accelerate the plasma through confined magnetic field and exits it outward.

Sorry for the engineer question but, what about the neutrons? The shielding of the engine chamber would have to be massive, right? And still would suffer heavy damage requiring a lot of maintenance I think. You're not likely to have missed that so, what did I miss?
