I'm a manager in the UK, and one of my team members replied to a message on slack at like 10 pm. I brought it up on our 1:1 and told her not to do it again, because it sets a bad precedent for everyone else. Work ends at 5 pm.

in Ireland we have a law called the right to disconnect, so you legally are not allowed to answer outside of work unless it's an emergency and you're a responsible party.

I am in the UK and even here you need to set boundaries, I got called and messaged when I was getting ready to go to dinner with my wife on my wedding anniversary, and ended up going in to fix something that honestly could have waited..... when we next had a meeting, I made it clear that if they want 24/7 access to me, they can *pay me* an on-call allowance, but from now on, my phone is off and will not be answered out of hours

my management team at my current job are very strict that youre not allowed to message them anything work related when theyre off shift. so i believe it goes both ways. if they message me work related things, ill respond when im on shift 🤷🏻♀️

I get the messages and choose if I want to respond to them. On my days off the numbers are muted and on annual leave I block the numbers
