the saddest part is she tried to get help, repeatedly! she checked herself into hospital, she asked for a ppd diagnosis but was denied, and she shared her thoughts with professionals. this could have and should have been prevented. it’s true, it’s awful what she did and she will face punishment… but those kids are still gone and as i said, this SHOULD have been prevented. ppd and psychosis need to be taken more seriously.

when one of my friends was postpartum she called me to come over and watch the baby because she was hearing voices telling her to put him in the oven. ive never dealt with postpartum psychosis but i often think about how different life could be if she hadn’t had the mental clarity for a split second to call somebody for help... such a sad situation.

Her husband was aware of her situation and still left her alone with the kids. You can demonize her all you want, but as someone who has been institutionalized for psychosis, you have no idea what she went through. She was let down by everyone. She sought help and didn’t get what she needed.
