@annelisethearchaeologist: A little pyramid FAQ because I genuinely do get these questions frequently. These are all photos from my phone, which is fun thing to be able to say. #TikTokLearningCampaign #archaeology #egypt #ancientegypt #pyramid

hi Annelise, because I was inside all pyramids, I want to remind you that in the tomb chamber inside the pyramid of Sakara, which is from the old kingdom and considered as the first pyramid ever built, is full of decorations, right? 🤔

No internal decorations? Are we sure they weren't going through an aesthetic minimalist phase?

I’m currently an archaeology student and want to get into field schools and exploring new places! Do you have any recommendations for some cool sites (can be anywhere, I’m literally interested in everything 😅) so far I’ve been to sites in Rome and some places in Austria!

Thousands of years separating old and new kingdom is such an amazing thing to wrap your mind around. Got to enter the smallest pyramid and also the bent pyramid in Saqqara. That was a quad workout and felt like walking into a sauna

i like how in that tomb painting, Kephr-Re is facing (i assume east) and osiris is facing west, assuming that tomb is east/west orientated. 😏😏

Can you share any information on any possible pyramid restoration discussions? I imagine it's been brought up before and, despite the assumed incredible cost, any such restoration would likely destroy the structures

@Annelise Baer | Archaeologist I don’t think I’ve ever seen any images from inside the Pyramid of Djoser. Would it have been without decoration as well?

I'll pose you a fun question. what happens if you drill a hole in granite then then pour a mix of natron and vinegar into it, then cap the hole. Use diorite hammers to guide fracture points to adjacent holes. look you can quarry with ancient readily available tools.
